# Consolidated shipments

{% hint style="info" %}
**WARNING 1:** This feature will be available around late April / early May
{% endhint %}

A consolidated shipment consists of combining several orders (single shipments) bound for the same country into a single palletised load. This optimises costs and logistics: once the load arrives at the courier's branch in the destination country, it is 'unpacked' and the single shipments are sent separately to the final recipients.

### How can consolidated shipments be managed on Gsped?

The process works as follows:

#### 1 - Creating the consolidated shipment

In this step you specify the initial details of the consolidated shipment, such as sender / recipient and the number of pallets it will consist of

#### 2 - Creating the child shipments

In this step you generate all the shipments that will be placed inside the consolidated shipment created in the previous step.

These shipments must be created via API, through **Shipment - POST** in the usual way.

As specific data, **you must specify the ID of the consolidated shipment and the identifier of the pallet** in which the shipment being created will be placed. These two values are returned in the response to the consolidated shipment creation.

**Example of the data to add to the API call:**

```json
"courierData": {
        "idSpedizioneConsolidata": ID_SPEDIZIONE_CONSOLIDATA,
        "identificativoPallet": IDENTIFICATIVO_PALLET
    },
```

{% hint style="danger" %}
**WARNING:**

Without these data the generated shipment **will NOT be associated with any consolidated shipment**.
{% endhint %}

#### 3 - Closing the consolidated shipment

Once all the shipments associated with the consolidated shipment created in step 1 have been created, you can close the consolidated shipment.

In this step the courier is informed that the shipment is complete, and the labels to use for the N pallets of the consolidated shipment are returned.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**IMPORTANT:**

Once the consolidated shipment has been closed, no new shipments can be associated with it.

Also bear in mind that the consolidated shipment cannot be closed as long as there are pallets with no shipments associated with them yet.

#### 4 - Adding a new pallet (Optional)

For couriers that allow it, you can add a new pallet to the consolidated shipment.

This operation is allowed only if the shipment **is not yet closed**.

#### 5 - Removing the last pallet (Optional)

For couriers that allow it, you can remove the last pallet added to the consolidated shipment.

This operation is allowed only if the shipment **is not yet closed** and if **no "child" shipment is associated with that pallet**.

## Customs duties for consolidated shipments

Below are the instructions on how customs duties must be handled for the consolidated shipments of the various couriers.

### DHL

All the single waybills (baby) are assigned to a main waybill (mother) that represents the consolidation of the shipment.

Customs clearance is carried out in favour of the importer of record (IOR) identified by the sender when preparing the Break Bulk shipment.

All baby shipments are released into the country's distribution network and delivered to the final recipients (domestic)
